Choreography

As a choreographer I began making work in 1996 whilst at Rambert School and then at Rambert Dance company I used ‘Resolution!’ and other platforms to begin presenting my work independently.

Alongside my works for Probe I have been commissioned by numerous groups and companies to make work.

“The exciting thing about her whole approach is seeing the potential you didn't realise you had – and seeing it in others too.“ Julian

“Toni has a wonderful way of making people feel relaxed, listened to and valid so that they can bring the best version of themselves to any session. She is generous, warm, friendly, encouraging and deeply curious.” Charlotte

Teaching

I have been an independent dance/movement teacher, facilitator and Lecturer since 2002. Outside of teaching at arts organisations, professional companies and academic institutions I lead mixed ability and multi-generational groups including primary & secondary school children, vulnerable youths, over 60s, women affected by drug and alcohol misuse, CSA survivors, displaced communities, LGBTQ+. As a result, I feel confident to welcome and inspire creativity within all individuals. I am constantly questioning and refining my ways of working to consider how best to support and be inclusive to all individuals in a creative process or learning environment.

I have taught numerous workshops relating to the themes in my work and using directed improvisation, voice/movement integration and approaches for writing, devising and choreographing. Workshops illuminate and utilise various interdisciplinary practices and adapt/adopt these to broaden the individuals creative interests.

I teach contemporary technique, improvisation, contact, voice work and choreographic repertoire as well as host lecture demonstrations and sharing my research. I facilitate and participate in panel discussions and debates surrounding issues such as collaboration, cross art form performance, gender politics and the challenges of women and parents working in the arts.

I aim to create a healthy working environment through listening, observing, empowering, challenging and unlocking the potential of the people in the room as creative humans.

“Toni gave me permission to arrive as I was and dive into the creative process as it emerged. This felt fresh and enlivening… there was a sense of a gentle disruption and an invitation, rather than a confrontation, which felt very generative and created surprising results.” Rachel

“The workshop gave me opportunity to play, discover and enter into a quiet exploratory state, with opportunity to draw and work with the feelings and sensations that were discovered and uncovered. Toni's teaching was very generous and I felt that she held the space in such a way that i felt a sense of liberation.” Mim

“Toni is a stimulating and empathetic leader who gives confidence, effortlessly responding to what you bring. Her carefully structured and stimulating tasks, coupled with her empathetic approach and thoughtful reflections, made for one of the best set of classes I've been in. I feel I have grown in creative confidence and insight, and have left smiling, feeling warmed and inspired.” Lisa

“I thoroughly enjoyed Antonia’s creative dance workshops. Her experience and delight in sharing her coherently planned, well researched material generated wonderful creative responses and food for thought. Toni was mindful of different levels of experience and abilities, and was always positive, encouraging and totally inclusive.” Liz
